The Company Behind Naadam

The company was founded in 2013 by Matthew Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus after they traveled to Mongolia. They quickly became friends with local herders and saw first-hand how traditional cashmere traders drove up prices and took the profits. The two college friends realized they could pay their herder friends more while selling high-quality clothes for less.

Today, NAADAM only works with Mongolian herders who are paid a fair wage directly from the brand – not through brokers or middlemen. Naadam works closely with the Gobi Revival Fund, a non-profit organization that has been supporting more than 2,100 herding families since 2015.
